Marie Papp is a Hoboken and NYC professional photographer specializing in headshots, executive portraits, personal and corporate branding photography, portraits, and corporate events. More Than a Great Photograph

I believe the best photographs happen when people feel seen, comfortable, and genuinely connected to the person behind the camera.

For more than 25 years, I’ve photographed people at important moments in their lives and careers—from executives and entrepreneurs who need to make a powerful first impression to families celebrating the people and relationships that matter most.

My approach goes far beyond lighting and camera technique. I’m meticulous about the details that can transform a photograph: posture, expression, body language, clothing, color, hair, positioning, and the subtle adjustments that help someone look polished without looking overly posed.

Creativity

My background as a performing artist also shapes the way I photograph people. Drawing on years of acting and improvisation, I know how to direct without making a session feel stiff or mechanical. I watch expressions, read body language and energy, and work with you until we find the moments that feel natural, confident, engaging—and unmistakably you.

That is especially important with headshots. Most people aren't professional models and don't automatically know what to do in front of a camera. You don't have to. That's my job. I’ll coach you through the process, from posture and positioning to expression, so that we're not simply taking a picture—we're creating an image that communicates who you are.

As a Certified Color Consultant, I also bring an understanding of how color affects appearance and perception. When you're wearing colors that harmonize with your natural coloring, the eye is drawn to you—your face, your eyes, and your expression—rather than to what you're wearing. The right colors can help you appear more vibrant, polished, approachable, and attractive, creating a sense of visual harmony that naturally draws people in. I help clients make thoughtful wardrobe and color choices so that everything in the photograph works together to support the most important part of the image: you.

Connection

My connection to family photography is deeply personal. I lost my mother when I was young, so I understand in a very real way that photographs become more valuable with time. A family portrait isn't simply something beautiful for the wall today. It can become part of a family's history.

Education

I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and am a Certified Professional Photographer through Professional Photographers of America and a Certified Color Consultant. I also completed Rutgers University's Entrepreneurship Pioneers Initiative (EPI), an intensive entrepreneurship program for established business owners.

My work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Hoboken Girls,Best Photographer in Hoboken in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Over the years, I have photographed everyone from business owners, executives, actors, families, and entrepreneurs to celebrities and prominent public figures.

But credentials and awards aren't what I want you thinking about when you're standing in front of my camera.

I want you thinking, “This is actually fun. I feel comfortable. And I look like myself—on a really good day.”
